Fort FFA soils teams compete in state contest

Fort Frye's FFA Soils Teams competed in many competitions and made it to the State Contest on Oct. 14.
Fort Frye FFA competed at the County Soils contest hosted by Frontier FFA and the Washington County Soil and Water District in September.
Congratulations to the hardworking crew of 13 Fort Frye FFA members who competed in the rural competition. Fort Frye placed first as a team and contestant Maggie Fulton finished as first place individual!
These members have evaluated and studied properties of soils as well as best management practices both in the classroom and the soils pit.
Next, the Rural & Urban teams competed in the District 10 Contest at the Barlow Fairgrounds.
The Fort Frye FFA Urban team of Dusty Dye, Alexis White, Katelyn Forshey, Christy Willis, and Peyton Offenberger placed fourth.
Congratulations to the Urban team for qualifying for the State Soils Competition.
The Fort Frye FFA Rural Team is Wyatt Fulton, Kail Baurbach, James Shuster, Julia Silvus, and Maggie Fulton.
Congratulations to the Rural team who placed second in District 10 and also qualified for the State Competition. Amazing job Wyatt Fulton who placed first out of 80 other contestants.
On Oct. 14 the Fort Frye FFA Urban and Rural soils team competed at state level. Some of their learning skills that they acquired for the future is understanding the vital role of soils in building a strong foundation for homes and land.
The Rural Soils placed eighth in the state out of 50 teams! Member Julia Silvus led the team with a sixth place individual placing out of over 181 participants.
Our Urban Soils team placed 34th! Congratulations to both teams for making it this far.
