Jedlink wins judge’s race

MARIETTA – With 10,623 total votes Randall Jedlink is the unofficial winner of the race for Washington County Municipal Court judge.

Jedlink defeated Shoshanna Brooker, who finished with 8,082 total votes.

Jedlink graduated from Glenbrook South High School in 2003 and attended Purdue University, where he graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in political science, entrepreneurship. He then went on to receive his juris doctor degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2010 and has been practicing law for 13 years. He began in private practice, spent time in the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office and has done some defense attorney work. He now serves as the county juvenile magistrate.

Municipal court judges are elected for terms of six years and commences on the first day of January after the election. Jedlink will be stepping in for Janet Dyer Welch, who has served as the Washington County Municipal Court judge for the last 18 years. Welch said although she could have run for a fourth term, she has decided to retire.

“I really enjoy it,” Welch said about being on the bench. “But it’s for six years, and I didn’t want to make that commitment at this time.”
