William M. Casteel, 21, 50 Michaelis Road, Marietta, driving a 2008 Kia Spectra owned by Angela K. Conaut, 811 Lancaster St., Marietta, was making a right turn onto Township Road 274 northbound from Ohio 550 westbound in Warren Township Oct. 23 when R. Yost Dawn, 49, 455 Warrior Drive, Vincent, driving a school bus owned by Warren Local Schools Washington County, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent, was making a right turn onto Ohio 550 westbound from Township Road 274 southbound. Casteel struck Dawn and the 22 passengers aboard the school bus. There were no injuries and no charges were listed.
Brady I. Dye, 24, 305 Cedar Ridge Road, Lowell, driving a 1999 RD Mack owned by Burkhart Trucking Inc., 9950 State Route 60, Lowell, was traveling westbound on Ohio 550 in Warren Township Oct. 23 negotiating a left curve and drove off the right side of the roadway. He then overcorrected, went off the left side of the roadway, and struck a culvert and an embankment. Dye had suspected minor injuries and was transported by Warren VFD to Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was charged with driving in marked lanes.
Claude A. Thompson, 55, 48 PVT Dr. 1206, Chesapeake, driving a 2013 Ford F-150 and Ferrin R. Thomas, 55, 360 Butler Rd., Newport, driving a 2014 Chevy Silverado, were both traveling northbound on Ohio 7 in Newport Township Oct. 26. Thomas was stopped in traffic when Thompson failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck Thomas. There were no apparent injuries and Thompson was charged with not keeping an assured clear distance.
Olivia F. Sheets, 18, 1865 D. South Bailey Ridge Road, Malta, driving a 2010 Nissan Versa, was traveling eastbound on Ohio 266 in Windsor Township Oct. 28 and failed to yield from a stop sign while attempting to go straight into a private drive. Justin W.R. Cordray, 41, 6333 Cooper Lane, McConnelsville, driving a 2017 Ford F-250, was traveling northbound on Ohio 266 attempting to continue straight onto Ohio 376 when he swerved off the right side of the roadway and was struck by Sheets. Cordray then struck a ditch, a traffic sign, and overturned back onto the roadway. Sheets came to a rest in the private drive on the northside of Ohio 266. There were no injuries and no charges were listed.
