The Washington County Career Center -- Adult Technical Training announces a significant opportunity for Ohio residents to be at the forefront of Ohio's broadband and 5G workforce initiative. Beginning immediately, the Fiber Optic Technician training is available at no cost to any Ohio resident.
In an era where high-speed internet connectivity is the lifeblood of modern communication and technological advancements, the demand for skilled workers will only continue to grow. This initiative aims to equip Ohio residents with the essential knowledge and expertise needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of fiber optics.
Evan Schaad, director of Adult Technical Training, noted, "Adult Technical Training is pleased to offer the Fiber Optic Training at no cost to Ohio residents. This is made possible due to the Individual Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP), which helps Ohioans participate in a training program and receive a credential at no cost. He added that IMAP is designed to be accessible to all Ohio residents, eliminating any financial barriers and making high-demand training opportunities widely available."
He also noted that "The training is also Tech-Cred approved and available to employers seeking to upskill their employees training through Tech-Cred would be at no cost to employers."
Upon successful completion of the training, students will have the opportunity to sit for the Fiber Optic Association's Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) certification, a widely recognized and respected industry credential.
The Fiber Optic Technician class is 40 hours and offers comprehensive instruction, hands-on experience, and expert guidance from industry professionals.
