PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Art Center is accepting registrations for a variety of in-person classes for winter 2024.
Many classes start in January and are designed for individuals from as young as 18 months to senior citizens.
The Art Center encourages people to pre-register for these courses early to ensure a spot, according to Jessie Siefert, managing director and education director, for the Art Center. Many have size limits to allow for individualized instruction.
Art classes also make a great gift as the experience and the new skills learned can last a lifetime, Siefert said
Recognizing the importance of nurturing creativity from an early age, the Art Center for children includes Mini-Monets for toddlers with a caregiver, Preschool Picassos, after school and homeschool art series and several Canvas and Cocoa workshops, Siefert said.
Teens and adults can explore a range of art classes, including, but not limited to, drawing, watercolor painting, oil painting, stained glass, pottery, photography and yoga. Multiple one-time workshops include collage, tie-dye and cell phone photography.
FineTime Parties are afternoon or evening workshops designed to be fun and relaxing to do individually or with family and friends. This winter the Art Center is partnering with several businesses and offering special FineTimes at Unity Cafe and another at the Cellar at WineDown on Market.
Classes are led by experienced instructors dedicated to making them accessible for all ability levels, Siefert said.
"Whether you are a beginner, a practicing artist or someone who wants to get back to the art they enjoyed long ago, we just want to foster your love of art and creativity in a supportive environment," Siefert said. "Art-making nurtures the mind, body and soul."
