The City of Marietta Water and Distribution Department will replace a fire hydrant at the end of Dye Circle on Thursday, the department announced via press release.
The installation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and requires a portion of water supply to be shut off.
The following neighborhoods will be affected by the outage: Alta Street between Riverview Drive and Coventry Drive. Approximately 25 customers will be affected.
The release states water will be shut off between four and five hours while work is being completed. After the hydrant is installed and water supply is turned on, the city will issue a "Boil Advisory." Customers are advised to rapidly boil their drinking water until the advisory is lifted.
Customers could also experience brown or milky colors in water due to depressurization of the water mains.
Individuals with questions about the outage and repair can contact the Water Treatment Plant at 740-374-6864.
