BEVERLY -- The Fort Frye Board of Education accepted over $20,000 in donations from several different sources during its monthly meeting Wednesday.
One donation totaled $12,500 from the Citizens Bank Foundation for the Fort Frye High School principal's fund.
"The principal's fund is used for various costs the principal sees that need done around the school," Superintendent Stephanie Starcher said.
Starcher said the district has received donations from Citizens Bank Foundation previously.
The next donation of $7,792.08 came from the Fort Frye High School football program, which consists of fundraisers and donations. The money will be used to make improvements on the weight room at the field house.
Another donation totaling $2,140 came from the Marietta Shrine Club Charitable Funds for the purchase of a changing table for disabled children in the district.
"Every single month, it's amazing to see all the donations," board president Johnna Zalmanek said.
The board also reviewed a copy of the 2024-2025 calendar, which included a full week of Spring Break from April 13-17, 2025. Starcher said the district hasn't had a full week at Spring Break before.
The final dates will be voted on at the district's next meeting on Jan. 25 at Beverly-Center Elementary.
The board voted to authorize Starcher and Treasurer Stacy Boldem to solicit bids for the district-wide paving project, which is scheduled to take place in Summer 2024. The estimated cost of the project is $650,000.
The board scheduled its 2024 organizational meeting for Jan. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Beverly-Center Elementary School. Zalmanek was voted as Temporary Chairman for that meeting.
