PARKERSBURG -- McClinton Chevrolet has installed a new charging station for electric vehicles, which the dealership says is the first of its kind in the area.
The DC Fast Charger can charge an electric vehicle to 80% capacity in under 30 minutes, said Jon Corra, marketing director at McClinton. The station can be used by numerous makes of electric vehicles, including Teslas with an adapter, he said.
"Any EV can charge at this station," Corra said.
According to chargehub.com, evstationslocal.com and plugshare.com, around 10 charging stations are located in Parkersburg and Wood County. A Tesla Supercharger station is set up at Sheetz on Seventh Street.
The cost to charge a vehicle at McClinton is 45 cents per kilowatt hour, Corra said. For a battery to be charged at 80% capacity, the cost is about $40, depending on the level of battery depletion, he said.
The station was installed about two months ago, Corra said. It is open around the clock every day, he said.
"We see people parked there late at night," Corra said. For more information about the charging station, call Corra at 304-865-6813. The station is a way to bring more people to the Mid-Ohio Valley and give local car shoppers an alternative to internal combustion engines, according to Corra.
"Since being installed two months ago, we've had visitors from many different states to use it," Corra said. "It was a big expense to install it, but it allows us to better serve our community as well as individuals traveling through the area."
