Churchtown Community Crew 4-H
Churchtown Community Crew 4-H club held their meeting on Dec. 10 in the St John Church Basement.
President Jaslynn Casto called the meeting to order. Dillon Schaad led the Pledge of Allegiance and Secretary Emma Poulton led the 4-H pledge. Secretary Poulton completed the roll call with the club answering with their favorite Christmas movies.
The minutes from the last meeting were read, approved, and Jaelynn Tornes gave the Treasurer’s report.
Vice President Elle Casto read a devotion titled “Trust in the Lord”. On the lines of safety during the winter, Alaina Wells gave a health report on the 12 Days of Holiday Health while Kara Schaad gave a safety report on safe winter driving. After the safety report, Dillon Schaad led the club in singing Frosty the Snowman.
The club then discussed earning a superior for this year’s scrapbook, as well as being named as a silver honor club. Advisor Elaine Wells also mentioned the Bean Ride raised a total of $13,000 for a new cabin at Hervida.
Under new business the club discussed making a donation to the Hervida fund. Club members were reminded of the 4-H crafting day at the extension office this month.
The club also discussed county award and trip winners, and each member talked about how their animal did at the fair.
Kara Schaad was congratulated on her Grand Champion dairy beef feeder.
Advisors Elaine Wells and Sarah Poulton asked members about ideas for a possible club field trip or activity.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Secretary Poulton and Vice President Casto seconded the motion.
For recreation after the club meeting, they wrapped gifts for the ShoeBox of Love and the Giving Tree projects.
The next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 located at the St. Johns Senior Center. Refreshments will be brought by the Casto and Tornes families.
