Comics announced for Parkersburg Homecoming comedy show

PARKERSBURG - The headliner for the annual Parkersburg Homecoming Comedy Night has been announced.

Jon Reep is a nationally touring comedian with a contemporary country point of view who won the fifth season of the NBC show "Last Comic Standing."

He will be joined by comedian Tyrone Davis, who will open the show scheduled for 8 p.m. March 9 at WVU Parkersburg in the multipurpose room, where doors will open 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $25 and are available at Buttermore Jewelers and online at Eventbrite.com.

Reep has fans in comedy clubs, TV and in the movies. He has built a following through his comedy specials, such as Netflix's "Brad Paisley's Comedy Rodeo," and has a new standup special on Amazon Prime "Ginger Beard Man."

His new standup album, "Ginger Pain," was released on 800 Pound Gorilla Records. "Jon Reep: Metro Jethro" and a half-hour standup special both aired on Comedy Central.

He is also host of the podcast "Country-ish on Bill Burr" and "Al Madrigal's All Things Comedy."

Reep has been in Tig Notaro's Amazon Series "One Mississippi," CW's "Jane The Virgin," ABC's "Black-ish," HBO's "Eastbound and Down" and was the Hemi Guy in the Dodge automobile ad campaign. In movies, he was in "Into the Storm" and was Raymus the pot-smoking farmer in "Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay."

Opening the night will be Tyrone Davis, a comedian who has entertained audiences around the country and whose act has made him a standout among stand-ups talking about family, politics or whatever else.

will have the opportunity to see what Parkersburg has to offer in higher education close to home.”

John Mike Nichols, a member of the Homecoming board and the show coordinator, said residents will enjoy Reep's comedy.

“Being from Hickory, N.C., Jon's style of storytelling and country humor should be very relatable and a big hit in the Mid-Ohio Valley," Nichols said.
