NEW MATAMORAS – Frontier Local School District Board of Education held its organizational meeting Thursday evening at Frontier High/Middle School.
To start the meeting, treasurer Lee Howard handed members Adam Synder and Anthony Brooker paperwork to signify their membership.
Synder was elected to a second term on Nov. 7, while Brooker was elected to his first term that same day.
Board member Jeff Knowlton conducted the meeting, since previous board president Jarod Kiggans did not seek re-election.
Knowlton was nominated to be board president.
No other names were presented. The board elected him in a 4-0 vote, due to member Joani Reese being absent.
Knowlton said he’s served as board president previously.
“I’ve served as board president at least two times before,” he said.
Synder said he would be vice president again. The board agreed, electing him in another 4-0 vote.
The next item on the agenda was to name members on different committees. The majority of the appointments stayed the same, except Synder and Brooker on the Building and Grounds Committee.
Another item was to name a representative from Frontier to sit on the Washington County Career Center Board Of Education. Knowlton said previous board member Jeff Lauer had done so for several years.
“An outgoing board member can sit on it if they are in the district. Jeff likes it and volunteers every year,” he said.
No further discussion occurred. Lauer’s appointment was approved as a part of the consent agenda.
The board set its monthly meeting for Jan. 24 at 6 p.m at Frontier High/Middle School.
