The Churchtown Busy Bunch 4-H Club had their organizational meeting Jan. 21 at the St. John's Senior Center.
President Chad Lang called the meeting to order with Blake Lang leading the US pledge and Declan Schaad leading the 4-H pledge. Secretary Maggie Fulton read the minutes of the last meeting and assistant treasurer Derrick Wheeler gave the treasurer's report. Under new business, guest speaker Katie Roush Herron described how her 4-H projects helped prepare her for her current career. Other new business included voting to have a fund-raiser and help the Catholic Women's club. The club also decided to do service work for the Senior Fair Board's fundraiser in February and several members volunteered for the 4-H Open House. The club voted to do something for 4-H week and the window display committee will start on the display at the February meeting. The cloverbud members gave a demonstration on their work, entitled "Life Cycle of the Frog". The advisors announced all the members who won the 2023 county awards.
New changes in the 4-H program were discussed such as payment of project books, new location for the window display, and changes in some of the by-laws. The club's yearly calendar was also distributed and all members had to sign up for one of the club's committees.
For recreation, advisor Treadway introduced photos of many past members in a game called "Guess Who" and the current 4-H members tried to recognize them. Refreshments were enjoyed by all and the next meeting will be held in early February.
