Once again downtown Marietta is preparing for First Friday, kicking off the month of March with an evening of late shopping and dining specials.
The monthly event, hosted by Marietta Main Street, runs from 5-9 p.m. and this Friday's theme is "March Madness."
On Front Street, First City Records has a busy evening planned with High Schools that Rock performing from 6-8 p.m. The business will also host Belpre business owner The Flower Daddy and Vicki Ayers will be doing palm readings for donations to benefit local musician Doug McBride. Just a few doors down, Clutch Collective will host local musician Evie Schaffer from 6-8 p.m. Adjacent business Wit & Whimzy will be featuring their newly expanded Children's Boutique by offering 20% off baby and children's items. Next to them, American Flags and Poles will have all gnomes 40% off.
At Marietta Makery, guests can enjoy making felted shamrocks and the Leap into March Sale. At Tabletop Puzzles and Games every purchase will be entered to win a gift basket.
Sugar Maple Boutique will have refreshments, a 15% sale, and clearance items will be up to 70% off. Threadz Boutique will offer 10% off every purchase. Emleigh's and Mama B's Boutique will discount their consignment rack at 50% off, feature a $10 rack, and introduce their new t-shirt line by Salty Earth. Teri Ann's will be hosting a book signing event with Tracy A. Jones for her children's book titled "I'm Not Afraid of THAT Sound." They will also have their winter merchandise available at a 75% discount.
Downtown restaurants will also join in the festivities with their own special drinks and menu items.
The Historic Lafayette Hotel will feature a Guiness braised pot roast and a seared sesame tuna. At The Galley, the dinner special includes a Friday Fish Special of grilled line-caught Atlantic swordfish and "mocktails." The Original Pizza Place invites diners to shoot mini basketballs to win discounts and more. Over the Moon Pub and Pizza will host live music from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and all draft beer will be $1 off. The community is also invited to visit Wilky's Sports Bar, the newly opened restaurant on Tiber Way. Diners can also enjoy special St. Patrick's Day and Easter themed cocktails at 740 Social.
Downtown First Friday events are coordinated by Marietta Main Street and take place the first Friday of every month from 5-9 p.m, January through December. Highlights of these events include shops open late, local artists and musicians, area organizations, and various happenings tied into the theme of the First Friday.
Each First Friday is a celebration of the local community and an opportunity for locals, tourists, and area groups to show their support for the town, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of vibrant, historic downtown Marietta, according to Marietta Main Street.
