Scouts look to raise money for 2024

3 min read

The Kootaga District Friends of Scouting Campaign is off to a great start. The 2024 campaign began late January and is being chaired by Jimmy Asbury.

The Kootaga District serves Scouts and volunteers in the following counties: Wood, Jackson, Wirt, Roane, Ritchie, and Calhoun counties in West Virginia and the communities of Belpre, Little Hocking, and Coolville in Ohio and Camp Kootaga in Walker, W.Va.

With the community's help, the Kootaga District of the Buckskin Council will continue to motivate young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime.

Their gift will ensure that all youth throughout the District will have the opportunity to experience all that Scouting has to offer.

Brad D. Smith, president of Marshall University, will be the featured speaker at the 55th annual Kootaga District of the Buckskin Council Boy Scouts of America Community Leadership Dinner on Friday, March 22.

This year's dinner will be held at the Parkersburg Country Club, 4910 First Ave., Vienna. Christopher Burk will serve as master of ceremonies for this year's event.

A reception with a cash bar will begin at 6 p.m. The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. This year's dinner menu includes a choice of chicken or prime rib. Tickets are $150 each. All proceeds support Scouting programs in the Mid-Ohio Valley and Camp Kootaga, said Jimmy Asbury, dinner chair.
