A man wanted for failure to appear for a sentencing in Wood County was arrested this week on drug charges in Washington County.
Jamil Adrian Cabral, 41, no address listed, was taken into custody Tuesday on a capias warrant from West Virginia and charged with fifth-degree felony counts of possession of drugs and drug abuse, according to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Agents of the Southeast Ohio Major Crimes Task Force observed Cabral walking through a parking lot in Pioneer Township Tuesday and knew about the Wood County warrant, the release said. After he was taken into custody, agents, in conjunction with the sheriff's Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at a local hotel where Cabral was known to have been staying.
The search turned up 1.08 grams of cocaine and half a gram of methamphetamine, both confirmed with testing, the release said. An Ohio identification card belonging to Cabral was found, along with his personal belongings.
Cabral was arraigned in Marietta Municipal Court, with bond set at $5,000, the release said.
The Southeast Ohio Major Crimes Task Force is part of the attorney general's Organized Crime Investigation Commission and is comprised of representatives of the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Meigs and Athens County Sheriff's Offices; the Marietta, Belpre, Middleport and McConnelsville Police Departments; the Washington, Morgan, Noble, Meigs and Athens County Prosecutor's Offices; and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
