Summer Camps include:

≤ History Camp: Defining America 1940-1960

July 8-12 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Travel back in time with a 5-day camp filled with historic hands-on activities for students in grades 3rd-6th. In this year's camp we'll explore the local, state, national, and global events of 1940 - 1960 including the difficulties of WWII and the movements, change, and scientific break-throughs that marked the 1950s and 1960s.

Campers will be immersed in engaging activities such as crafts, games, tours, music, dancing, and more! Join us for this fun-filled, educational week. Registration fees include all materials, activities and tours.

Campers (Students Entering Grades 3rd - 6th in Fall 2024)

≤ Archaeology Camp

July 15 - 18 – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Castle's Archaeology Camp is for students entering grades 6th-8th. Campers will experience a real archaeological dig on the site of one of the oldest pottery manufacturing sites in Ohio, learn how archaeologists sort and sift for objects, and examine and identify artifacts! Leading this camp will be professional archaeologist Wes Clarke.

Campers (Grades 6th - 8th)

≤ Archaeology Field School

July 29 to Aug 1 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Castle's Archaeology Field School is geared for high school age students and adults.

This week-long experience will begin with introductory discussions and hands-on activities regarding the goals and methods of modern archaeology.

Field work activity will be at a moderate pace that can be geared to the preference of each participant. We will be excavating a real archaeological site, processing the recovered artifacts, and discussing what they tell us about past hu-man activity. This is a great opportunity for adults and students to participate in an archaeology project led by professional archaeologist Wes Clarke.
