Washington County Commission discusses bills

Washington County Commissioners discussed bills, one of which they were none too pleased with, during the commission meeting on Thursday morning.
During the discussion of bills commissioners considered a request by the Washington County Health Department for the commissioners to pay late fees and finance charges for a bill being paid late.
"So the narrative is they received it on (Jan..19), paid it on the (Jan..24) and the check was cashed on Jan. 29," Booth said.
The Health Department was asking the commission to pay a $39 late fee and $34.89 in finance charges, according to Booth.
"It's been a long standing policy of this board not to pay late fees." Booth said. "I don't see anyone here from the Health Department. As far as I'm concerned I think there should have been some conversation and we need to know more about this."
Commissioner Kevin Ritter made a motion to table discussing paying the late fees and finance charges.
"I'm just fed up with this nonsense. If they're not going to show up and explain why it's on the agenda, then it can stay tabled for the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned," Ritter said.
He also said he wanted people to know that during this kind of work things like that are going to happen because the law does not require that water lines going into homes be marked.
In other commission business:
≤Approved 5 Then and Now items, which are purchase order that are more than $100.
≤Approved a technical proposal for Design LeveL LLC for architectural and interior design services for select areas of the Washington County Fiscal Office In the amount of $21,600. According to the technical proposal the changes include providing a new customer millwork service counter and storage solutions for public records; and new architectural finishes including millwork, flooring, wall base and wall finishes and new ceiling tiles.
≤Voted to table discussing the quote for providing RedHawk for the county to allow for further discussion.
RedHawk provides a shortcut for Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), according to Washington County Emergency Management Agency Director Rich Hays. RedHawk used to be paid for with a grant for the last 10n years but that grant is ending, Hays said.
≤Appointed LeAnn Lucas, a counselor at BrightView Addiction Treatment Center, to the Washington County Behavioral Health Board.
≤Approved an amendment to the contract for transportation with the Ohio Department of Transportation. The amount for the local share in the contract has increased to $111,733 according to Booth.
