WATERFORD – Wolf Creek Local Schools heard concerns regarding Superintendent Doug Baldwin and reviewed his contract during Monday evening’s meeting at the Waterford High School Library.

During the public forum, former school board member Neil Huck provided a list of concerns about Baldwin to Board President Hugh Arnold.

"I’ve been asked by the community to come talk to the board about our superintendent," he said. "I've brought some things to Mr. Arnold. You can read them and respond to them. If there's anything I need to say, I'll say it afterwards."

"I've got your list, but I'm not sure what you mean on each one of these," Arnold said to Huck.

Huck responded that, among other things, he thought Baldwin wasn't as available to the district as he thought a superintendent should be.

"Why is (Baldwin) only putting in only six or six and a half hours of time? Whenever school is gone, he's gone, too," Huck said. "Of all the superintendents that we had, one was from McArthur (Ohio), he stayed until at least four and sometimes stayed until after he went to the ball game to go home."

Huck said whenever someone wanted to mow the baseball or football fields, the mower was broken or had a flat tire.

"They wonder why we couldn't buy a new one," he said. "One person said we couldn't buy a new one. The way I've seen it, the money you've got in the bank should buy a mower."

Baldwin declined to respond to Huck's comments. Arnold then asked the board to go into executive session at 6:47 p.m. to review the superintendent's contract. The session was listed on the agenda and the board unanimously approved the motion.

The board returned from session at 7:40 p.m. Arnold said the session was informational only.

During Positive Strokes, Waterford Elementary School principal Bradley Lanier said he had a new video produced by the STEM class, consisting of 7th and 8th graders. Students read school announcements, read sports scores, and give a weather broadcast.

"The STEM class is new this year. The students love to solve problems," he said. "This is their first video."

Lanier said the class will broadcast a video each Friday and he will post them to the Waterford Elementary-OH Facebook page.

At 8:00 p.m., the board adjourned into another executive session to discuss negotiations. Arnold said no action would be taken other than to adjourn the meeting once they were finished.
