Monthly Used Book Sale

The Barlow Friends of the Library Monthly Used Book Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the library basement.

Baked steak and pork tenderloin dinner

A baked steak and pork tenderloin dinner will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Macksburg United Methodist Church. One meal is $13 each. Carryout meals only. The Women's Group sponsors this meal and appreciates the continued support. For info call Donna at 740-509-0159 or Darla at 740-509-0550.

Healthy Snack Making

At 4 p.m. today at the Belpre Branch Library, kids in grades K-5 can learn how to make a healthy snack of apples and tasty toppings. Registration is required.

Hand-Sewing Event

At 6 p.m. today at the Beverly Branch Library, teens and adults are invited to learn about basic hand-sewing techniques. At this event, they will be making scrunchies and learning how to set up a sewing machine. No registration is required.

Sugar and Spice Book Club

Come enjoy some modern romance titles and share recommendations for your favorite spicy books and sweet treats at 5 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Belpre Branch Library. They will discuss "While We Were Dating" by Jazmine Guillory. This event is for ages 18 and up and no registration is required. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library desk.

Fish Fry

Our Lady of Mercy Church will be holding Lenten Fish Fries from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 8 and March 22. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Drive through pickup for all to-go meals are $12 and there is no need to call ahead.

Shepherd's Pie Dinner

VFW Post #5108, 319 Pike St., Marietta, will be holding a Shepherd's Pie Dinner with tossed salad and rolls from 5-7 p.m. March 8. A meal is $10 per person. For more information or carryout call 740-374-9038.

Fish Fry

St. Mary Catholic School Lenten Fish Fry begins from 5-7 p.m. every Friday through March 22. Dine in, carry out and drive thru options available.

The Beverly American Legion Post 389, 5th Street Beverly, will hold a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 8.

A meal for $12 includes fries and coleslaw. Music will follow from 7-10 p.m. The public is welcome.

Leftover Craft Event

The Marietta Branch Library will be holding Leftover Craft Events from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Come see the assortment they have available including Paint by Sticker, Friendship Bracelets, Mandalas, and Character Drawing. Drop in anytime and stay for as long as you'd like (or until the library closes), as well as collect supplies and take them home to complete your project. All supplies are provided. These events are open to all ages and no registration is required.

Steak Fry

The Beverly Eagles will hold a Steak Fry, at 5:30 p.m. March 9. Grilled chicken will also be available. Music during the event will be performed by The Hopewell. For carry out call 750-984-4733.

Warren Local Athletic Boosters 300 Dinner

The Warren Local Athletic Boosters 300 Dinner will be held at Dyson Baudo Saturday, March 9. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $120 for two. This event is for adults 21 and over. If interested in purchasing tickets, please contact Renee Parks at 740-350-5737.

Youth Softball and Baseball Registration

Marietta Bantam youth softball and baseball registration for ages 5-12 will be from 5-7 p.m. each Friday until March 8 at 211 Linwood Ave, Marietta. You can also register online at www.mariettabantam.net.

Lawrence Alumni Reunion

The Friends of Lawrence School are currently planning a reunion. This event will be held on June 1 at Frontier High School. For those that graduated from Lawrence School, they have your address. Classes/Workshops/Seminars

Beginner Line Dancing Classes

The Barlow Branch Library will be holding beginner line dancing classes at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21, and 28, with Donnie Allen as instructor. The cost is $16 total for the four sessions. This event is for teens and adults. Registration is required.

African Drum Workshop

The African Drum Class will meet from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta Social Hall, 232 3rd Street, Marietta. Master Drummer Lawrence Greene will lead the workshop. A suggested donation is $15 to $20. Advance registration is required. Please call Rev. Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, will be offering a 13-week Grief Recovery Support Group starting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through April 9. Each session, the group will watch a video, featuring personal stories of those grieving, and hear encouraging information from the grief recovery expert. They will also have a discussion/sharing time together. For more information, contact the church at 740-373-6478.

Free Tax Return Preparation

AARP Tax-Aide is offering free tax return preparation for all taxpayers on Mondays and Thursdays through April 11. Schedule appointments by calling Washington County Library (Main Branch) at 740-373-1057. No walk-ins are accepted. Taxpayers should bring all their tax documents including any letters from the IRS along with a copy of last year's tax return plus picture ID and Social Security cards for all family members.

Zumba Classes

Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Monday at the O'Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

Ballroom Dancing Classes

Weekly ballroom dancing classes will be held 7-10 p.m. the second, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at Miller Prosthetics, 2311 Ohio Ave., Parkersburg. Dress is casual. Cost is a $5-per-person donation with singles and couples welcome.
