Gov. Jim Justice, right, applauds after presenting Calhoun County students Charter Cottrell, left, and Lauren Lovejoy with Distinguished West Virginian awards while visiting Calhoun Middle/High School Monday. The students were recognized for their actions following a school bus wreck on March 4. They assisted other kids on the bus and "refused medical attention until everybody else was taken off," Justice said during his online briefing Thursday. The driver of the bus, Jeffrey Brannon, was arrested after the crash on charges of driving under the influence and child neglect. On Thursday, his original charges were dismissed and he was re-charged with three counts of DUI causing bodily injury, three counts of child neglect resulting in serious injury and 16 counts of gross child neglect creating a risk of death or serious bodily injury.
