NEW MATAMORAS – The Frontier Local School District Board of Education voted unanimously to reclaim money left over from a bond levy used to build buildings in the district during its meeting Wednesday evening.

A total of $26,270.79 was transferred from the Bond Debt Fund to the district's Capital Improvement Fund by order of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas.

"It's a formality more than anything," Treasurer Lee Howard said. "The balance was left over from a previous bond levy we had passed to fund building new buildings in the district. We paid off the bond levy, and this is the amount that was left over."

Howard said the district couldn't reclaim the money without the court's approval. Now, the money will be used for current building projects, she said.

The board voted to go into executive session at 6:04 p.m. to investigate a complaint and discuss collective bargaining preparation and sessions. They returned at 6:58 p.m.

Board members voted to purchase 100 Chromebooks for students from Quality Sales and Service for $27,275 and 33 for teachers at $15,040.41, for a total of $42,315.31 out of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds.

"All of the money we have left in the ESSER funds has a use designated for it," Howard said.

Technology Director Bruce Cassady said several of the district's Chromebooks are between four or five years old and can't be serviced any longer. The board also voted to accept bids for the demolition of the old Matamoras K-3 Building.

The project budget is $150,000. Howard said reviewing the bids should be on the board's April 18 meeting agenda.
