¯ St. Mary Catholic School Lenten Fish Fry begins from 5-7 p.m. every Friday through March 22. Dine in, carry out and drive thru options available.

¯ Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fish fry from 4-7 p.m. today at the Salem Fire Station, State Route 821, Lower Salem. The cost for a meal is by donation only. A meal includes fish, french fries, green beans, applesauce, hot dogs, homemade bread, desserts and beverages. The fish fry will also include various raffles.

¯ Norwood United Methodist Church will provide a free drive-through meal at 4:30 p.m. today until the food is gone. Please enter the alley on Vine Street and exit onto Colegate Drive.

¯ Beverly American Legion Post 389, Fifth Street, Beverly, will hold a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. today. A meal is $12 and includes fish, fries and coleslaw. Music will follow from 7-10 p.m. The public is welcome.

¯ The Beverly Eagles will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry at 5:30 p.m. today. For carry out, call 740-984-4733. Entertainment during the event will be by Misty Fry Karaoke.

¯ A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held to benefit the Palmer Community Center renovations from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Community Center on State Route 676. The price for a meal is by donation only. There will also be a country store and Easter basket raffle.

¯ The Noble County Historical Society will be hosting a Yard Sale at the Ball-Caldwell Homestead Barn, 16 East St. Caldwell, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. March 23. Items at the yard sale will include glassware, dishes, tools, books, music, picture frames. For more information call 740-581-2345.

¯ Belpre Heights Church, 720 Clement Ave., Belpre, will hold a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 23.

¯ MOV'n Dragons will hold a pasta dinner fundraiser from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Mill Creek Road, Marietta. The meal includes your choice of meat sauce or vegetarian sauce, salad, bread and dessert. To-go containers are available. Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door and $5 for children under 5 years of age. Tickets can be purchased from any team member or by calling 740-336-1140. The benefit will also have a silent auction.

¯ The Noble County Historical Society will be celebrating its 60th anniversary with an open house to view their collection of 1964 items, from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. March 25, 27, and 28. They will be showcased at the Historical Jail Museum, 419 West St, Caldwell, and is free to the public. A birthday party will be held this summer.

¯ The Washington County Veterans Service Commission will be conducting a Vietnam Welcome Home Ceremony from 5-7 p.m. March 29, at Marietta College's Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. This event is open to the public. Live music and food are provided. They are honoring anyone who served during the Vietnam War era, 1961-1975. ¯ Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Easter Egg hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the fire station, 102 Oak Grove Lane. Children through age 12 are invited.

¯ Local musicians The Troubadours are reuniting for the Washington State Foundation Student Emergency Fund. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 6. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

¯ Blessing Birds, an organization aimed at providing financial assistance where funds are usually lacking, will hold a Mental Health Help Benefit Fundraiser at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Belpre Bingo Hall, 133 Stone Road, Belpre. ¯ The Friends of Lawrence School are planning a reunion for June 1 at Frontier High School. The group has addresses for those that graduated from Lawrence School, but if the address has changed, people are asked to text the new address to Jeannie Henthorn at 740-236-8254. Anyone that ever attended Lawrence High School is invited. Invitations are being planned to go out mid-April. The reunion will include a country store, raffles, a meal and much more.

– March 18:

¯ The I'm With the Banned Book Club will meet at 4:30 p.m. to discuss Angie Thomas's "The Hate U Give." Each month a new challenged book is chosen for discussion. Participants will discuss why some say they need to be removed and why others say they need to stay. Disclaimer: The books chosen for this book discussion have content that someone has found disagreeable. Copies are available at the library and using the Libby or Hoopla app. This event is for ages 18 and up. No registration is required.

– At 6 p.m., join the library for a night of games and movies. Refreshments will be provided but people are welcome to bring yummies to share. This event will take place at the American Legion Hall. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– March 19: At 5:30 p.m, Quilting at the Library participants will begin a small personal quilting project. This event is for teens and adults ages 13 and up, and registration is required.

– March 23: The Eclipse Party will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Stop by the library as they prepare for the eclipse coming up on April 8. There will be crafts and games set up around the library for everyone to enjoy at their own pace. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– March 25:

¯ At 9 a.m., join the library at the Cornerstone Inn, 201 Fifth St., Beverly, for a stroll down memory lane. This will be an open discussion on a certain topic. This month they are going to be discussing food and local restaurants. A morning beverage will be provided. This event is open to teens and adults, and no registration is required.

¯ Join the library at 3:30 p.m. as they combine two great things into one exciting event. They will be watching a movie and playing a game of bingo. This event is for teens and adults. No registration is required.

– March 26: At 6 p.m., join the library at Riverbend Family Dining, 415 Fifth St., Beverly, as NASA Solar System Ambassador Program volunteer Tyler Hines will discuss the newest news from NASA and prepare them for the eclipse. A drink and appetizer will be provided. This event is for teens and adults. No registration is required.

– March 28: At 6 p.m., come learn about the greenhouse at Waterford High School, 330 Main St., Waterford. The Wolf Creek FFA will be available to discuss their hydro-garden. This event is for teens and adults, and registration is required.

– Every Second Monday: At 4:30 p.m. there will be an informal book discussion at Lock #4 Coffee Shop, 123 Third St., Beverly. A small drink will be provided by the Library.

– Every Wednesday through April 24:

¯ The Breakfast Club Story Time begins at 8:15 a.m. and is for children ages 2-6 who are accompanied by an adult. Story Time will include stories, crafts, games and music. The story time will include a small breakfast snack. The library will be closed at this time, so they ask those attending to use the back door.

¯ Starting at 10:30 a.m., Baby Bookworms will meet. Baby Bookworms is a story/play time for children 2 and under who are accompanied by an adult.

¯ Starting at 3:15 p.m. "Once Upon a Time We...," an after-school fun time for ages 6-12, will begin meeting. Topics for this event will change each week and activities may include crafts, games or books. No registration is required.

– Every First Thursday: Starting at 6 p.m., teens and adults are invited to learn about basic hand-sewing techniques. This is part of the Let's Get Crafty program.

– Every Third Thursday:

• At 6 p.m., stop in and make Granny Squares using a Crochet Circle. The Granny Squares will be collected to make a blanket that will then be donated to a worthy cause. Hooks and yarn will be provided. If you don't know how to crochet, they will teach you. This event is for teens and adults. CAL (Crochet Along at the Library) will meet every third Thursday at 6 pm. No registration is required.

– Every First Saturday: Anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the Builders Club will be meeting. They will set up a kit for everyone to work on together. They will also have some blocks for people to do an independent build. This event is for ages 5 and up and is an "at-your-own-pace" program.

– March 22 and 29: The library's Family Book Club will meet from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Fridays. The book club is designed for second-grade children or older and their families. Each meeting will include a reading, a discussion and related activities. They will be reading two graphic novels; "Stargazing and Lo" and "Behold." Call the library to register and reserve a copy of the book. Attendees who participate in the book club will receive a pair of eclipse glasses.

– March 28: From 3-5 p.m., bring your family and come play board games. This family event is open to all ages. Registration is required.

– April 4: The library will hold a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4.

– Every Monday or Tuesday: Story Time at the Barlow Branch is at 10:15 Mondays or Tuesdays for Newborns through Pre-School. Registration is required.

• Topics for March: March 18 and 19 – Wind; and March 25 and 26 – Easter.

– Third Thursdays through May: Teen entertainment for grades five to 12 after school until 4 p.m.

– Every Fourth Thursday: The Junior ALLY Club will meet after school from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Busing will be provided for a limited number of students. Busing options will require calling the library to sign up and sending a note to the school in advance. – Every Friday: A gaming hour will be held at 4 p.m. for ages 8-18. Participants must reserve their spot in advance and must be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. The space will be limited to eight people max. Spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Grab a group of friends and reserve your spot. A variety of video games will be provided to choose from each week.

– March 15: At 5 p.m., this month's evening book club will feature "Shark Heart: A Love Story" by Emily Habeck. This event is for ages 18 and up. Copies can be picked up at the desk today. No registration is required.

– March 18: At 2 p.m., adults and teens 12 and up can make their own adorable home sweet home decoration with colorful washi tape. Registration is required.

– March 21: At 4 p.m., kids in grades K-5 can show off their Lego-building skills with the library's Lego collection. Need some inspiration? They'll show a movie with your favorite master builders while you build. Registration is required.

– March 22: At 6 p.m., join the library for Disney Name That Tune for the whole family. Be our guest and show off your skills with your family or team of up to six friends. Registration is required.

– March 25: At 2 p.m., adults and teens ages 12 and up can make colorful diamond-painted suncatchers to welcome spring. Registration is required.

– March 26: The YA Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. Young adult readers ages 12 and up can join the library for this month's book club in reading, "The Raven Boys" by Maggie Stiefvater. No registration is required. Pick up a copy at the desk today.

– March 28: At 4 p.m., kids in grades K-5 can join the library and make their own delicious dessert "sushi" with bananas. Registration is required.

– March 29:

• At 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, kids up to age 10 can join the library for crafts and two age-specific egg hunts. Kids up to age 5 will hunt first, followed by older kids. Registration is required.

• Join Jed for a tricky trivia night at 6 p.m. This month is not themed. This will be a Kahoot Trivia, so please bring one internet-enabled device for each person attending. Registration is required.

– March 30: At 11 a.m, come have a blast singing, playing and moving with your little one. The music circles are led by Martha Webster, music educator and National Board-certified music therapist. This event is for children ages 2-4 with a grownup, and registration is required.

– Every Monday: At 10:30 a.m., kids under 3 and their grownups are invited to come for a 30-minute story time experience. This program features developmentally appropriate stories, songs and activities for the littlest library patrons. No registration is required.

– Every Wednesday: The Teen Pathfinder Role-Playing Group will meet at 4 p.m.; 12- to 18-year-olds can join the group for adventure and snacks. Registration is required.

– Every Thursday: At 2 p.m., homeschoolers under the age of 12 can come hang out for some social time with their peers. No registration is required.

– Every Friday: At 10:30 a.m., kids ages 3 to 5 and their grownups are invited to come for a fun and educational introduction to the alphabet and the world around them. Each week will feature a letter or theme, and families will have the opportunity to take home an enrichment packet to continue their learning throughout the week. No registration is required.

– March 18: The Spring Equinox is celebrated in many places around the world. Stop by the library from 3-5 p.m. to learn more, make a craft and start the new season of growth and life. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.

– March 19: At 4 p.m., come create a St. Patrick's themed craft where patrons make a design by gluing buttons to a framed canvas. This event is for ages 13 and up, and registration is required.

– March 20:

• At 5:30 p.m., come meet author Lori McColl, who will read her first book, "Dorsey Dern Goes to Bobtown." Listen to the story of Dorsey Dern and pick up your own copy of the book to be signed by the author. This event is for ages 2-10, and no registration is required.

• The Books and Brews Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. The club meets once a month to discuss a book that has fermentation in it (alcohol). They will discuss "The Drunken Botanist" by Amy Stewart. They will meet at Over the Moon Pub and Pizza, 170 Front St., in the bar area at the back. Non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. Alcoholic brews can be purchased by attendees. This event is for ages 21 and up, and registration is required. Be sure to pick up your copy of the book at the Marietta Branch or borrow it on your smart device using the Libby app.

– March 22: Between 2-5 p.m., stop in to paint and decorate an artificial easter egg. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– March 23: From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the library will host a puzzle exchange. People may drop off puzzles Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22. Puzzles are as is, so users beware. Each person will receive a voucher for each puzzle dropped off. Puzzles cannot have any nudity or profanity. Leftover puzzles will be donated.

– March 25: From 3-5 p.m., stop by the library for their final international holiday. Try a traditional sweet and snacks, make a craft and learn about Holi, the Festival of Colors. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.

– March 26: At 5:30 p.m., gather yourself a team of three to four people and join in the Puzzle Competition. Five teams will combat time and other teams to reign as puzzler extraordinaire. Don't have a team? Register as an individual, and they'll make a team. This event is for ages 12-102, and registration is required.

– March 27: The Literary Ladies Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. This book club reads cozy, wholesome and inspirational books. March's book is "Mrs. Porter Calling" by AJ Pearce. This event is for ages 18 and up. To register, stop by the library and check out a copy of the book or borrow on the Hoopla or Libby apps.

– March 30: Anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., stop by and build a stuffed bunny. This event is for ages 4-10 and registration is required.

– The library will hold several art classes throughout March and April to introduce patrons of all ages to the joy of creating art. Different media will be used on different days. The art created at these free classes will be displayed at "Art in the Alley" in May.

• Friday, March 15 from 3-5 p.m., come make some Aurora Borealis Chalk Art.

• Saturday, March 23, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., come create a piece of canvas art.

• Friday, March 29 between 3-5 p.m., create a Splatter Silhouette with Watercolors.

– Every Monday: Stop by the library from 3-5 p.m. to learn about and explore black inventors throughout history. Make a craft based on their inventions and read about their lives to celebrate Black History Month. This drop-in event is open to all ages and no registration is required.

-Every other Monday: Art Exploration will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– Every Wednesday:

• Story Hour for children ages 3 to 6 and their caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. No registration is required. Call the youth services department for more information.

– Topics for April: April 3, Rain and Mud; April 10, Birds; April 17, Frogs; April 24, Bugs.

– Every Thursday:

• Preschool movies for kids ages 2 to 6 will be shown at 3 p.m. Movies will last no longer than 30 minutes.

• Afterschool Movies are every 4-5:30 p.m. All movies are rated G or PG and will run no longer than 100 minutes. You may call the children's department to inquire about the movie titles. Popcorn and bottled water will be served. Open to all ages. Those ages 7 and under must have a caregiver attend with them. No registration is required.

– Every Friday: Toddler Time featuring stories and crafts for children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. No registration is required. For more information, call the Youth Services Department at the library.

– Every Second Saturday: Leftover Craft Events will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come see the assortment available including Paint by Sticker, Friendship Bracelets, Mandalas, and Character Drawing. Drop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and stay for as long as you'd like (or until the library closes), as well as collect supplies and take them home to complete your project. All supplies are provided. These events are open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– IT Specialist: An IT Specialist will be available to help with technology questions from 1-3:30 p.m on Tuesdays and 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Fridays. They will help you learn how to use your cell phone, computer, tablet, the internet or Microsoft Office programs.

• The New Matamoras Branch Library, 100 Merchant St. offers a Story Hour for kids age 2-6, every Wednesday. It focuses on stories, crafts, socialization and other activities aimed at improving fine motor skills. Space is limited, so registration is required by calling 740-865-3386.

• Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, will be offering two 13-week Grief Recovery Support Groups from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., through April 9. Each session, the group will watch a video, featuring personal stories of those grieving, and hear encouraging information from the grief recovery expert. They will also have a discussion/sharing time together. For more information, contact the church at 740-373-6478.

• A faith-based cancer support group will meet at noon on the second Monday of the month at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta.

• A free men's breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the O'Neill Center. Donations will be accepted.

• The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice. All classmates and friends are welcome.

• The Washington County Bar Association and volunteer attorneys are offering a free advice clinic from 6-8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. The clinic will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta (enter through the back door off the alley behind the church from Wooster Street). Walk-ins are welcome.

• Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. All are welcome.

• Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, offers worship at 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Adult Sunday school class is at 9:15 a.m. Coffee, light refreshments and fellowship available. A weekly adult Bible study with Pastor Doug Thompson will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and 6 p.m. Sundays. All are welcome.

• The Alzheimer's Association support group meetings in the area include: Marietta Support Group, 10-11:30 a.m. first Fridays at the O'Neill Center, 333 Fourth St. Facilitator is Krissy Kearns, 937-974-2387, Belpre Chamber of Commerce, 1-2:40 p.m. second Mondays at 713 Park Drive. • The O'Neill Center will hold mani/pedis with appointments 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Cost is $16 for manicure and $33 for pedicure. Call the O'Neill Center for appointments.

• TOPS 399, Marietta, meets 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the First Church of the Nazarene. Weigh-in is between 5:30-6 p.m. Visitors are welcome, and the first meeting is free. Call Cindy at 740-629-2957 for details.

Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

• Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Monday at the O'Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

• The O'Neill Center in Marietta will hold bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays. No cost at the door to play 20 games and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited. Also scheduled are: a free gentle yoga class at 10 a.m. Tuesdays; bridge at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; euchre at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; hand and foot cards at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; chair volleyball at 9 a.m first and fourth Wednesdays, except the second Wednesday of the month; Free afternoon at the movies at 1 p.m. Thursdays.

• Weekly ballroom dancing classes will be held 7-10 p.m. second, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at Miller Prosthetics, 2311 Ohio Ave., Parkersburg. Dress is casual. Cost is a $5 per person donation with singles and couples welcome.
