2 min read

A geopolitical strategist will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Marietta College Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Peter Zeihan will present "Mid-Ohio Valley at the End of the World." Students can attend a special question and answer session at 4 p.m. in the auditorium.

Zeihan helps people understand how the world works. With an eye toward what will drive tomorrow's headlines, Zeihan combines an understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology and security to help clients best prepare for an uncertain future.

Zeihan has worked for the U.S. State Department in Australia and Washington, D.C., think tanks. He also helped develop the analytical models for Stratfor, one of the world's premier private intelligence companies.

In 2012, Zeihan founded Zeihan on Geopolitics to provide clients with direct, custom analytical products. Today, those clients represent energy majors, financial institutions, business associations, agricultural interests, universities and the US military. Zeihan has written four books. "The Accidental Superpower" and "The Absent Superpower" have been recommended by Mitt Romney, Fareed Zakaria and Ian Bremmer.

He also is the author of "Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World" and his most recent, "The End of the World is Just the Beginning."

The lecture with a question and answer session will begin at 7 p.m. A book signing will follow at 8:15 p.m. in the Betty Cleland Room. A reception requiring tickets will be held at 6 p.m. in the Cleland room. Tickets to the reception include admission to the lecture and are $25 each with a limit of 50 people.

A VIP dinner with Zeihan will be held on Tuesday. Tickets are $250 per person with a limit of 50 participants. Dinner registration includes dinner, cash bar, admission to the reception and lecture on Wednesday and a book.
