Washington County Career Center students of the month

At the Career Center, Natalie Greathouse is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization and the national technical honor society.

She has consistently been on the principal list or honor roll every nine weeks. At Fort Frye High School, Natalie was active in the students against violence everywhere club.

She has earned industry-recognized credentials and/or college credit for automated external defibrillator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, introduction to nutrition, medical terminology,

Ohio Department of Health - State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA), and stop the bleed. In addition, she's earned college and high school credit for academics in English composition I, psychology, and statistics.

Greathouse is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for health science & technology, medical terminology, patient centered care, and principles of allied health medicine.

Medical College Prep instructor, Robin Wright, commented, "Natalie is very respectful of herself and to others. She can always be counted on to do the right thing. She works in a nursing home as an STNA. I would trust her to care for myself or my family."

She is currently employed through the Career Center's early placement program at Highland Oaks Health Camp, in McConnelsville, as an STNA.

Upon graduation, she plans to attend Washington State Community College to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing and become a forensics nurse.

James Shuster is a Fort Frye senior enrolled in the Diesel Truck Mechanics program, and he is the son of James Shuster of McConnelsville and Dusty DeLancey of Beverly.

At the Career Center, Shuster is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization. Last school year, he competed at the state level for diesel.

He has received awards for the Career Center's honor and merit roll.

At Fort Frye High School, he is a member of FFA with many achievements, including the state FFA Degree.

He has earned industry-recognized credentials for automotive service excellence.

He is taking course offerings and learning skills for ground transportation engine & power train, ground transportation maintenance, truck braking, suspension, & steering systems (undercarriage systems), and truck diesel engines. Assistant Director,

Tim Kilpatrick, commented, "James has a bright future in diesel mechanics. His work ethic, dedication, attendance, and attitude will serve him well in life."

Shuster is currently working through the Career Center's early placement program at Shelly & Sands.

He plans to enter the Operator's Union Local #18 as an apprentice.The O'Neill Center,
