Marietta City Schools Board of Education member Cody Parman said the Facilities, Operations and Safety committee met on April 9.
He said they talked about the current roof replacements on various buildings in the district, including the district building, bus garage, IT building beside Marietta Elementary School gym and two other roofs, and one on Putnam School. The district should be ready for bidding in two to three weeks.
Parman said during the meeting, he asked Director of Operations Dash McNeal to create a priority list for each district building of projects to complete over the summer.
"He's got large ambitions," Parman said of McNeal. "He thinks he can knock it all out. By the time people come back in the fall, there's going to be some noticeable upgrades."
McNeal said the district plans to replace doors at the gym and other places at Marietta Elementary, along with back doors at Washington Elementary.
McNeal said he asked a question when making the priority lists.
"I asked the principals, what are your priorities? I can walk through the building but they are in there every day. They're the ones leading the charge with me," he said.
McNeal said potential bathroom renovations include two at Marietta High School and two at Marietta Elementary School.
He also said he's looking into lighting upgrades in the theater at Marietta High School.
"Things that make a big difference that are not high dollar items like not having to flip breakers to turn lights on and off in production. It'll make a big difference to the people in those spaces," he said.
