PARKERSBURG – More local schools have announced their plans for the solar eclipse Monday.
Parkersburg Catholic High School Principal Mike DeRose said the school plans on an early release at 11:45 a.m.
"This is one of those opportunities where they should be with their families and we understand that," he said.
DeRose said the school received a donation of NASA-certified eyeglasses through one of the parents. Science teachers Beth Grasser,
Theresa Vincent and Darla Bever have been teaching students about the significance of the eclipse.
Warren Local Schools plans on an early release for all three buildings on campus. Superintendent Kyle Newton said Warren Elementary School students will receive donated eyewear, but no collective event will be on campus.
"We are not doing anything on our campus, as school will not be in session during the event," he said.
Washington County Career Center will be open for a full day of instruction, said superintendentTony Huffman.
