Williamstown council talks raising water rates

WILLIAMSTOWN – Williamstown City Council approved a 5% increase of the water and sewer rates on final reading during its meeting Tuesday evening.

The increase was passed on first reading during the April 2 meeting.

During Tuesday's meeting, the public had an opportunity to comment about the increase. Williamstown resident Ron Leisure said he had seen the city was charging $798 for a water tap in a memo about the increase distributed at the meetings. He said he had paid $1,200 when his was installed.

A 3% increase was previously established in 2020.
