MINERAL WELLS – New Era Air and Space Adventures held its 15th annual Kite Festival this weekend at Mineral Wells Elementary School.
The festival hosted local craft vendors, entertainment and kites.
Thomas Family Entertainment provided two bounce houses and a small train for the children attending to ride around the elementary school parking lot.
New Era Air and Space Adventures also sold kites. People attending had the opportunity to buy a kite or bring their own and fly it in the nearby baseball field.
According to Activities Coordinator Kelly McGill, the kite festival promotes the New Era One Room School next to the Mineral Wells Elementary school. The school teaches children what a day at school would look like in 1884, although McGill reports the pandemic killed that program. McGill noted they are having trouble finding schools that are interested in participating.
McGill also said the New Era Air and Space Adventures is always looking for more people to get involved; if one is interested in getting involved in their organization, they can message their facebook page.
