¯ The 2024 Marietta Garden Plant Sale will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Marietta's historic Unitarian Universalist Society, 232 Third Street. The sale will feature a variety of perennials, annuals, bulbs, houseplants, and succulents from local gardeners, along with assorted gently used garden items. All sale proceeds go to the maintenance of the society's 1857 Gothic Revival building, designed by architect John Slocum, who also designed the Castle. Additional information and updates can be found on the sale's Facebook page. Please note that there will be no early sales.
¯ The Marietta Township School Reunion will be noon May 18 at the Marietta Township Community Building in Reno. Schools include former students and teachers of Sandhill, Reno, Goose Run, Jennings Hill, Cornerville, Barker, Yankeeburg and Eight Mile. Meat, coffee, tea and table service provided. ¯ The annual Stanleyville School Reunion will be held at noon, Saturday June 1, at the Stanleyville Community Building, 1995 Stanleyville Rd, Whipple. All former students and their families are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish for the potluck meal. Drinks and table service will be furnished. Meat will not be furnished this year. A raffle, 5/50 drawing and door prizes will also be included at the reunion. A social hour will be from 11 a.m. until noon. Come and enjoy a day with former classmates and ole friends.
¯ The Friends of Lawrence School are planning a reunion for June 1 at Frontier High School. The group has addresses for those that graduated from Lawrence School, but if the address has changed, people are asked to text the new address to Jeannie Henthorn at 740-236-8254. Anyone that ever attended Lawrence High School is invited. Invitations are being planned to go out mid-April. The reunion will include a country store, raffles, a meal and much more.
¯ Pioneer Presbyterian Church of Belpre, Ohio will be hosting a summer kids' event called Scuba VBS: Diving into friendship with God from 5:50-8:30 p.m. Monday, June 17 to Friday, June 21. At Scuba, kids explore what it means to have a friendship with God. Kids participate in Bible-learning activities, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, devour treats, experience Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God's love, and test out science-fun experiments that get imagination bubbling. Kids will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Fin-tastic Finale that gets everyone involved in living what they've learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 8:10 p.m. Kids at Scuba VBS will join a missions effort to provide clean water for families in rural areas of Honduras. ¯ Watertown Fire Dept. will be holding its first annual Gun Bash Fundraiser on June 22, at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Churchtown. Tickets are $100, doors open at 4 p.m. and the Gun Drawing will start at 5 p.m. There will be a Bar-B-Q dinner, live auction, 50/50 drawing, and side games. – Every Second Monday: At 4:30 p.m. there will be an informal book discussion at Lock #4 Coffee Shop, 123 Third St., Beverly. A small drink will be provided by the Library.
– Every First Thursday: Starting at 6 p.m., teens and adults are invited to learn about basic hand-sewing techniques. This is part of the Let's Get Crafty program.
– Every Third Thursday:
– At 6 p.m., stop in and make Granny Squares using a Crochet Circle. The Granny Squares will be collected to make a blanket that will then be donated to a worthy cause. Hooks and yarn will be provided. If you don't know how to crochet, they will teach you. This event is for teens and adults. CAL (Crochet Along at the Library) will meet every third Thursday at 6 pm. No registration is required.
– Every First Saturday: Anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the Builders Club will be meeting. They will set up a kit for everyone to work on together. They will also have some blocks for people to do an independent build. This event is for ages 5 and up and is an "at-your-own-pace" program.
