April 16

*Police began an investigation into unauthorized charges on a victim’s credit card and it was determined to be an unintentional billing error. The victim was reimbursed by the company.

*Police began an investigation into an internet crimes against children case referral.

*Police responded to the 600 block of Second Street in reference to an active breaking and entering incident. After investigating, police learned a man entered a neighbor’s apartment and did not immediately leave when confronted. The resident then chased the suspect to the supect’s porch and assaulted him. Police arrested Joven McLoughlin, 25, for burglary and the law director’s office will review the assault incident.

April 17

*Police were contacted by Marietta High School’s principal in reference to a male student being assaulted in the high school stairwell by another male student while going to class. A summons will be sent to the juvenile prosecutor for the charge of assault.

*Police were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of Pike Street in reference to a man with an active warrant being at the business. Police located James R. Wallace, 38, and arrested him on active warrants.

April 18

*Police initiated a mental hygiene report and probate court issued an order, which was served on April 22. The individual was transported to the hospital for care and then was released an hour later and returned home by police.

April 19

*Police began an investigation in the 220 block of Broughton Avenue and made contact with a suspect who they found had an active warrant from the state of West Virginia on an unrelated matter. Ronald E. Moore, 54, was arrested for being a fugitive from justice and was transported to the Washington County Jail.

April 20

*Police responded to a Wendy’s in the 100 block of Pike Street to a man causing a disturbance. Upon arriving, police found that an irate man entered the restaurant, cussed at staff and knocked over a tea container when leaving which caused damage to it. The suspect was identified and a summons will be requested.

*Police responded to Walmart on Pike Street in reference to a theft that just occurred. Upon arriving, police spoke to the loss prevention officer and found that a woman had passed the last point of sale without paying for $249.73 worth of items. Krista C. Porter, 39, was arrested for theft and released on a personal recognizance.

*Police responded to the Marietta Memorial Hospital. in reference to assisting Belpre Police Department with a patient they had charges for. At their completion, Belpre PD arrested the suspect without incident.

April 21

*Police responded to the 800 block of Pike Street in reference to a theft complaint. Upon investigation, police learned that a man committed theft and criminal trespass. Joshua Allen Campbell, 41, was arrested on a warrant from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and taken to jail. There Campbell was served the new charges as well.

April 22

*Police responded to the Walmart on Pike Street in reference to a vehicle being vandalized with spray paint. Police identified the suspect as a former employee.

*Police were monitoring drop off traffic at the Marietta High School parking lot when the high school fire alarm was pulled and students started evacuating the school. Police found that a male student pulled the fire alarm. Charges will be filed for inducing panic and will be sent to the Washington County Juvenile Court.

*Police responded to the Walmart on Pike Street in reference to a woman shoplifting by underscanning $72 worth of items. Lisa Marie North, 45, was arrested on a charge of theft and transported to the Washington County Jail.

April 23

*Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 200 block of Pike Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arriving, police made contact with the victim and found that multiple females had been outside the apartment making threats to the victim. Summonses are being issued against three women for disorderly conduct and against one of them for menacing.

*Police responded to the 800 block of Gilman Avenue in reference to a body being found on the river bank. The individual was identified as a 51-year-old man. Police initiated an investigation and the case remains under investigation pending autopsy and toxicology results.

April 24

*Police were contacted by the Marietta High School vice principal in reference to a physical altercation between two females students in the school’s cafeteria. Both females will be summoned to juvenile court for disorderly conduct/fighting.

*Police responded to a business in the 400 block of Seventh Street in reference to a possible physical assault by an employee of a transport service. At this time the incident is still under investigation.

April 25

*Police assisted another law enforcement agency with an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

*Police spoke to an individual in reference to someone opening a utility bill in his name.

April 26

*Police were contacted to do a transport of Samantha N. Miller, 31, and to charge her with possession of drugs found during a search by probation.

*Police spoke with a victim about a telephone scam in which she was texted about a large purchase on her debit card and was told to send cash to a bar code provided to fix the issue. No such purchase had occurred.

*Police spoke with a woman who came in to report her plates were stolen from her broken down car that has been parked for more than a year.

*Police were dispatched to a business on Acme Street in reference to a theft. Upon arriving, police made contact with staff who advised they found an empty merchandise box. Police checked CCTV footage and have identified a suspect. At this time, a summons for theft has been prepared.

April 27

*Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of Riley Drive in reference to a disturbance with violence. Upon investigating, police learned that two females showed up to the apartment to fight a resident there. No injuries were reported and a refusal of investigation was signed.

April 28

*Police were dispatched to the 120 block of Franklin Street for a disturbance with violence. Stratton W. Johnson, 33, was arrested for assault and transported to the Washington County Jail.

*Police responded to the 330 block of E. Spring Street in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Upon arriving, police made contact with the victim who showed them her vehicle had been damaged overnight. At this time, the case remains under further investigation.

*Police responded to the 830 block of Second Street about two dogs injuring another dog.
