Frontier High School alumni classes 1969-1990 recently held their 12th annual class reunion June 7-8.

Both nights the festivities were held at the American Legion in Marietta. For Friday night, a mixer type of evening was held. Classmates and guests were treated to a Rick Nicholson of Triple “R” Music Works DJ services who played music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. A cash bar, light snacks, soda and water was provided.

Saturday, classmates and guests arrived for a group picture taken by classmate Kathy Satterfield Tustin ’76. Anyone still interested in purchasing a group picture can contact Jeff Beaver. Gary Hewitt ’70 gave a blessing before the buffet style dinner, provided by Quinet’s of New Martinsville. Dawn Walls Gutberlet ’88 created and decorated a cake for the group to enjoy as dessert in addition to two specialty cakes. Door prizes were won throughout the evening that were provided by area merchants and alumni.

Throughout the weekend the alumni browsed through picture albums, scrap books, yearbooks and the memorabilia table. There was also a memory table that was dedicated to the classmates from 1969-1990 that are no longer present. A single candle was lit in their memory. Adorning the table was a floral arrangement created by Oopsa Daisy Florist of Newport.

A live auction was also held during the reunion. Jeff Beaver ’76 served as auctioneer and started the auctions off with six specialty pies made by Dawn Wall Gutberlet ’88. Winners were Cindy Evans Amos ’75, Cheryl Binegar Thomas ’71, Gale Mosser ’77, Lisa Farley Elder ’77, Sue Beaver Congleton ’73, and Dale Cline ’85.

Carolyn Resovsky Buddie ’72 donated a hand stitched quilt and the winner was Robby Holdren ’74. Another hand stitched quilt was donated by Teri Carr Leister ’76 and the winner was Marvin Mosser ’80. Two adult beverage baskets were donated by Adam ’79 and Dianna Steinhoff Springer ’85 and the winner of both baskets was Ronald Smithberger ’75. Two handcrafted pendulum styled clocks were created and donated by Sam Howard ’78 and the winner of both was Bill Greenwood ’76.

Jeff Beaver ’76, president of the association, spoke about some of the events occurring throughout the year. In fall 2023, many of the alumni worked the concession stand at the Frontier High School homecoming football game. The group plans to work again for the 2024-2025 Homecoming game. Come out and help the alumni work, stop by and see how to get involved with the alumni, or just visit for a while. On May 19 at the 20th FHS senior awards program, two seniors from FHS were awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Alumni Association. If you have a senior at FHS who will be attending school in the 2024-2025 school year, suggest that they stop and get a scholarship application from guidance counselor Holly Loughry Cunningham ’90. The annual FHS alumni association 1969-1990 will host their 13th annual class reunion June 13-14, 2025, at the American Legion.
