An assistant professor at Marietta College is the 2024 recipient of the school's John G. and Jeanne B. McCoy Teaching Excellence Professorship.
Cody M. Clemens is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication where his primary research and teaching focuses are on health, organizational, relational and gender communication.
The McCoy Professorship was established in 1995, and Clemens, Marietta College class of 2013, is only the second Marietta College alumnus to receive the teaching honor.
He has a Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University and is in his second year as president of the Ohio Communication Association.
"As an undergraduate student at Marietta College, I always admired the McCoy professors because I knew they were dedicated to their craft," Clemens said.
"It was clear that the awardees continually went above and beyond for their students by being innovative teachers, thoughtful mentors and inspiring role models."
Nominations for the McCoy Award are based on a review process that includes professors from other colleges and universities in Ohio.
