Memorial’s OBGYN department receives Blue Distinction

1 min read

Memorial Health System has announced that its Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care.

This recognition indicates the department has demonstrated expertise and a commitment to quality care for vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, as well as better overall patient satisfaction and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries when compared to non-designated facilities, according to a release from Memorial.

"We are honored to receive this national distinction," said Sarah Oldaker, senior director, inpatient services and chief nursing officer for Marietta Memorial Hospital. "This emphasizes our commitment to supporting our patients with the highest quality of care, right here at home. Not only at delivery but throughout the entire pregnancy and postpartum period."

This is only the second department within the health system to receive the BCBS Distinction honor.
