VIENNA -- Familiar faces are coming to TV screens across the country after the Qdoba in Vienna filmed a commercial that will air nationally.
The Vienna Qdoba was chosen out of approximately 700 restaurants across the country to film the commercial that will be streamed across all major networks in the United States. This is Qdoba's first ever national commercial, said Brian Anderson, director of operations for the local franchise that includes the Vienna, Marietta and Athens locations.
A production company from California filmed the commercial Tuesday over the course of 12 hours. The production team included 18 members that handled filming, lighting and sound design elements. Additionally, the production team brought in an actress from out of state to portray a customer in the commercial.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Anderson said. "It was fascinating to do every single scene, cut and angle."
The selection of the location for the commercial was made at the corporate level, Anderson said.
Local participants included Qdoba team members from all three area locations. Vienna Qdoba General Manager Danielle Richmond found the day to be fulfilling.
"I've worked for the company for four years now, so it's pretty exciting to see it," she said. "With the waiting in between shots, we were just inside, like, having fun, playing games. It was fun. The shoot was a lot of fun too; it was definitely different to do something like that."
Richmond also hopes this brings attention to Qdoba, not just nationally, but locally, too.
"It's funny because being here for four years now, we still have customers that come in and they're like, 'I didn't know you guys were over here,'" she said. "I'm really hoping that the commercial is super impactful on what Qdoba is and coming over here and seeing us!"
According to Anderson, the national marketing for Qdoba will start on Sept. 30 and the commercial will roll out around the same time.
