Parkersburg Homecoming features local music, food, and fun

PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg Homecoming is back this Friday and Saturday and is located at Point Park at 113 Ann St. Friday hours are from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday hours are from 3 – 10 p.m.

Friday evening kicks off with musical performances on the mainstage in the Riverfront Park Amphitheatre with Jack and Davis Reid at 6:30 p.m. followed by Kelsey Hart at 8:30 p.m.

Music continues on Saturday with the 22nd Annual Johnny Staats Bluegrass Festival. The festival is a part of homecoming and features an open bluegrass jam at Plants at the Point, the collaborative community garden at the Parkersburg Visitor Center in Point Park. Performing this year are The Good Ol’ Boys at 4 p.m., Waverly Run Bluegrass at 5:15 p.m., Johnny Staats & the Delivery Boys at 6:30 p.m. and Daley & Vincent at 8:30 p.m.

For entertainment outside of music, amusement rides will be just outside the floodwall, Kids Fest will feature games and inflatables, the Grand Parade starts at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and food and craft vendors will be available.

All festival vendors are local to help promote local businesses and to put that money back into the city, according to Parkersburg Homecoming President Kyle Pierce. There are 13 food vendors and 35 craft/goods vendors for this year’s event.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, the winner for the Rubber Ducky Derby will be drawn on the Riverfront Mainstage. Tickets are available for purchase at the event with only 10,000 tickets being sold. To purchase tickets, one must be 18 or older.

First ticket drawn wins $2,500, second wins $1,500, third $500 and fourth $200. Winners will have 30 days to claim their prizes and do not need to be present at the time of the drawing.

Homecoming closes out at 10:00 p.m. Saturday with a fireworks show sponsored by the City of Parkersburg.
