Recreational marijuana sales will start in Marietta this coming week.
The Cannabist Company has been approved to begin adult recreational marijuana sales in Ohio starting Aug. 6, the company announced in a statement Friday.
The statement said the adult recreational marijuana sales will start at all of its Ohio dispensaries: Columbia Care Marietta at 414 Green St., Marietta; Columbia Care Logan in Logan, Ohio; Columbia Care Monroe in Monroe, Ohio; Columbia Care Dayton in Dayton, Ohio; and gLeaf Warren in Warren Ohio.
“The Cannabist Company is thrilled that we have just been approved for five retail adult-use licenses and will kick off adult-use sales bright and early Tuesday morning,” The Cannabist Company Chief Executive Officer David Hart said in the statement. “We can’t wait to welcome new customers while continuing to support our loyal patients. We want to extend our appreciation to the Division of Cannabis Control for its hard work and dedication in implementing this program. Congratulations to our Ohio teams, partners and industry colleagues.”
The Cannabist Company was also approved to have adult-use operations at its cultivation and manufacturing facilities in Mt. Orab, Ohio, and Corsa Verde, the statement said. According to the Ohio Department of Cannabis Control, Corsa Verde is located in Columbus.
Marietta City Council has been discussing potential recreational marijuana legislation since late June, when during a June 27 Planning, Zoning, Annexation and Housing (PZAH) Committee meeting Ward 2 Councilman and PZAH Committee Chair Bret Allphin shared with council information on where dual use marijuana dispensaries could be located in the city of Marietta based on city zoning classifications and state law.
No ordinances have been introduced at any council meetings for recreational marijuana sales.
The Cannabist Company received a provisional dual-use dispensary license June 27. According to the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control website, a company cannot sell recreational marijuana until it issues a dual-use certificate of operation. As of Friday evening, the Division of Cannabis Control’s website still shows the dual-use license for the dispensary in Marietta as provisional.
Requests for comment by The Cannabist Company were not returned as of press time.
