The residents of Washington County will have the opportunity to try a new eatery on Pike Street next spring.
Chipotle Mexican Grill is coming to the corner of Pike and North Hart streets, according to a county plan review application for the project associated with the interior work for the restaurant.
"We are currently scheduled to open a new location in Marietta in the spring of 2025," Chipotle External Communications Analyst Annie Gradinger said via email.
She said Chipotle is always looking for communities where it can serve responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food and establish local partnership.
"The Marietta area is a great fit," she said.
News of the restaurant coming to Marietta first surfaced April 11 when Mayor Joshua Schlicher and City Zoning Enforcement Officer Jim Caldwell confirmed that Chipotle would be coming to Pike Street.
Gradinger did not confirm the location of the restaurant, but according to a plan review application associated with the project for the construction of the restaurant and other outside features the address as 212 Pike St.
The location of the future Chipotle is part of a development being built on a block encompassed by Pike Street, Elmwood Avenue, Ash Avenue and North Hart Street and what signs at the site are referring to as Marietta Commons.
Pickering Associates is the architectural firm for the construction of the restaurant project and Red Architecture is the firm for the interior restaurant work, according to the plan review applications.
The interior of the restaurant will be 2,492 square feet and the building itself will be 2,510 square feet, the plan review applications said.
The restaurant will have 22 "regular parking spaces" and two "ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) spaces," according to a site/layout plan that was issued in July.
The plan review applications describe the interior work for the restaurant as a "tenant fit out" and the work associated with building the restaurant itself as constructing a "new single-story wood-framed unfinished shell building for (a) future Chipotle restaurant" and said the work includes a "parking lot, drive-thru and dumpster enclosure."
The cost associated with the interior work for the restaurant is $350,000 and the associated Southeast Ohio Building Authority (SeOBA) fees and the state Board of Building Standards (BBS) surcharge total $1879.75, while the cost associated with constructing the restaurant building, parking lot, drive-thru and dumpster enclosure is $1 million and the associated SeOBA fees and the BBS surcharge total $2,054.85, according to the plan review applications.
PMC Exchange 2024 LLC purchased 58 parcels, including the parcel on which Chipotle is being built, from Wetz Properties LLC in April, according to the deed associated with the sale, and the cost of the sale was $950,000 according to the Washington County Auditor's website.
There will be other tenants at the 4.2-acre development, The PM Company Real Estate Director Jared Decker told The Times in April.
The PM Company (PMC) is the site developer and according to Decker it will be a retail mixed-use development.
Decker said in April that there would be two parcels at the front of the property on Pike Street and each would have one building and there would be a two-acre parcel in the back of the property.
The first tenants are expected during the first quarter of 2025 and it would be 12-18 months from April for the back parcel to be ready for tenants, Decker had said.
The total cost associated with the development is $10 million, according to Decker.
A public records request to the SeOBA did not turn up any information on other tenants besides Chipotle and PMC has not released any information regarding future tenants.
Chipotle will have an economic impact on the city.
Schlicher said in April that the development will increase the city's revenue and Gradinger said Chipotle restaurants on average have "30 jobs with competitive benefits."
