Fort Frye Local BOE hires Wells as interim treasurer

Wells

BEVERLY — The Fort Frye Local School District held a special Board of Education meeting on Monday, Sept. 9, to approve the resignation of District Treasurer Stacy Bolden and to hire Melcie Wells as an interim treasurer until the district is able to secure a full-time treasurer.

Bolden will continue to work for Fort Frye through Sept. 20. At the special board meeting, President Lloyd Booth acknowledged the 11 years of service that Bolden has provided the district and her contribution to the district’s significant progress over the last decade.

Wells, current school treasurer at Warren Local Schools, is now the official interim treasurer for Fort Frye hired on an hourly basis outside of her contract with Warren Local. Wells has a long history of partnering with Fort Frye to assist the district with needed treasury services. Over a decade ago, she equally split her time between Fort Frye and Warren Local and then provided services this spring and summer when Bolden was on unpaid leave from Fort Frye.

Fort Frye Board members thanked Wells for her continued assistance to the district and also expressed appreciation of the Warren Local Schools Board of Education for being supportive of another county school system in a time of need.

The board directed Superintendent Stephanie Starcher and Wells to assist the district in launching the official search for a new licensed school treasurer. A job posting has been released and the board intends to fill the position in the coming months.

Starting at $2.99/week.
