VINCENT — Warren High School senior Amanda Rauch is The Marietta Times’ Teen of the Week.

Rauch, 17, is deeply involved in several student organizations at the school. She is an active member of the mock trial team, where she hones her public speaking and critical thinking skills.

“Mock trial has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my high school experience,” Rauch said. “It pushes you to think on your feet and work collaboratively in high-pressure situations.”

Last year, Rauch’s team advanced to the state level, a highlight of her involvement in the program.

“Staying in a hotel with my classmates and competing at state was unforgettable,” she said.

In addition to mock trial, Rauch plays a leading role in Students Solving Problems, Student Council and the National Honor Society, where she serves as secretary. These roles have allowed her to spearhead initiatives such as food drives, teacher appreciation events and fundraisers for families affected by disasters.

“Being part of these activities helps me give back to a community that has supported us so much,” Rauch said. “Warren High School is an incredible place, and I’m grateful for the opportunities it provides.”

Rauch’s dedication extends to the athletic field as a Warren High School track team member. Specializing in pole vault and high jump, Rauch’s love for the sport began when her older brother’s coach encouraged her to give it a try. Rauch stated that she would go from her dance practices to her older brother’s track practices, was invited to try the sport and fell in love.

“Track has connected me with my classmates and pushed me to grow physically and mentally,” she said.

Rauch plans to continue her track career at the University of Akron, where she has committed to studying exercise science and nutrition.

While track has taken center stage recently, Rauch’s roots lie in dance, which she began at age 5 and pursued competitively until recently. Although she’s shifted her focus, Rauch stated she cherishes the friendships she formed through dance.

This year, she reunited with her dance community to perform in the Hometown Holiday Spectacular.

“Dance will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a passion that’s hard to compare to anything else,” she said.

As Rauch enters her final semester of high school, she’s focused on savoring her time with classmates and preparing for her future.

“It’s bittersweet knowing we’re all about to take different paths,” she said. “But I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
