The Marietta Police Department released the following reports:
Jan. 1:
• At around 10:40 a.m., police stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the stop, a passenger was identified as Christopher Eugene Hooper, 50. An active warrant was on Hooper from Noble County. Hooper was also found to have an active temporary protective order against him with one of the protected parties being the operator of the vehicle. Hooper was arrested on the warrant and also charged with violation of a protection order. He was transported to the jail to await a court date.
• At 2:17 p.m., police responded to 701 Pike St. for a theft complaint. Upon arrival, police found a woman removed a package from the complainant’s vehicle.
• At 10:48 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired plates in the 900 block of
Warren Street. During the course of the traffic stop, the operator, identified as David E Powers, 43, allegedly attempted to conceal drug paraphernalia. A positive indication of narcotics was given by a narcotics dog and a probable cause search was conducted and revealed multiple small baggies containing suspected drugs. As a result, Powers was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.
Jan. 4:
• At 12:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the police department for a stolen motor vehicle report. Officers made contact with the victim and obtained statements. The case remains under investigation.
