Wincore acquired by out-of-state investment firm

PARKERSBURG — A locally based manufacturer of windows and doors has been sold to an out-of-state investment firm, with its existing workforce remaining in place.

Wincore Windows and Doors, headquartered in Parkersburg, has been acquired by Fernweh Group LLC and its affiliates, Wincore recently announced in a post on its Facebook page. Fernweh has offices in New York and San Jose, Calif.

The release said the change will be seamless for customers, vendors and employees “as all employees and senior management remain with the company and will be supported by Fernweh’s operational partners to maximize the Wincore brand and product offerings.”

There are 485 people employed by Wincore in Wood County, with window and door plants off Staunton Avenue outside Parkersburg and the entry plant in Pettyville, Russ Tracewell, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Wincore, said via email. The company also has operations in Swainsboro, Ga.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This transaction provides us an opportunity to honor the efforts of those that founded Wincore 17 years ago,” Wincore President Brian Standley said in the release. “Without their collective expertise and willingness to take a risk, Wincore would not be what it is today. In addition, it allows us and each of our dedicated employees to continue to provide our customers with great products and service. We are excited to partner with the team at Fernweh to make a great company even better in the coming years.”

Fernweh is an investment firm led by individuals with experience in the industrial and industrial technology sectors, the release said.

“We are excited to partner with the talented management team at Wincore, whose vision and leadership have driven the company’s success to date,” Fernweh Group CEO Nick Santhanam said in the release. “Together, we look forward to building on this strong foundation, expanding the business and unlocking its full potential in the years ahead.”

Lindsey Piersol, executive director of Wood County Economic Development, said she believed the move will be a good thing for Wincore.

“They have reiterated their commitment to staying in Wood County, and we look forward to working with new equity firm that has acquired them,” she said.
