POMEROY – A blues festival in Pomeroy will mark its silver jubilee in August.

The 25th anniversary of the Big Bend Blues Bash will be held Aug. 1-2 at the Riverside Amphitheater in downtown Pomeroy.

The bash is a weekend of live music, local culture and riverfront festivities and promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers and residents alike, according to Jackie Welker, the organizer of the annual music festival.

“This year’s Blues Bash is more than a festival. It’s a celebration of 25 years of music, community, and tradition here in Southeast Ohio,” Welker said.

“We’re honoring our roots while looking ahead to the future of live music on the river.”

The festival kicks off Aug. 1 featuring headliners Band FEEL, Ace Monroe, Sean Whiting and the Big Badness and Dragons Eye. The night of rock and roll sets the tone for a weekend celebrating the spirit of American roots music, Welker said.

The Aug. 2 performances include Texas guitar virtuoso Jackie Venson, rock sensation Nikki Hill, retro-soul favorites The Hi-Jivers and a diverse roster of talent including The Renee Stewart Band, Wicked Trixie, Bedford, Stone Quillen Band and The Codgers.

Beyond the music, attendees can enjoy local food vendors, artisan shopping and the charm of historic downtown Pomeroy.

With the scenic Ohio River as its backdrop, the Big Bend Blues Bash continues to be one of the region’s most unique and intimate outdoor music events, Welker said.
