Body of missing person found at Mountwood Park
VOLCANO — The body of a missing Canton, Ohio, man was found Sunday at Mountwood Park.
The body of Chad E. Polen was discovered by searchers at the park, according to a press release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department posted on its Facebook page Monday.
Deputies had previously been sent to the park on June 27 in regards to an abandoned vehicle, a blue Honda Accord with an Ohio registration plate, which had been at the park for several days near the park’s volleyball area, according to a previous release from the Sheriff’s Department.
Polen was identified as the owner of the vehicle.
Polen had been reported missing to the Perry Township Police Department, Stark County, Ohio, and had been missing for a few weeks at the time, officials said.
Deputies, along with several area first responders, initially searched the area in the park for two days without finding anything.
West Virginia Natural Resources Police, along with search teams from West Virginia and Ohio, conducted a more detailed search of the Mountwood Park area with more people on Sunday, which resulted in the discovery of Polen’s body, according to officials and the release from the Sheriff’s Department posted Monday.
“No foul play is suspected in Mr. Polen’s death,” the release stated. “We would like to thank all the search teams, local volunteer fire agencies, volunteers, and the Natural Resources Police for the hard work and organization that led to his recovery.
“We want to express our sincere condolences to Mr. Polen’s family,” the release said.
