The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley announces scholarship recipients
PARKERSBURG — The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley has announced its 2025 scholarship recipients, providing financial support to seven local students from West Virginia and Ohio dedicated to careers serving individuals with cognitive or intellectual disabilities.
Scholarships totaling more than $4,750 have been awarded this year.
“Our scholarship program is more than just financial aid. it’s a statement of belief in the next generation of leaders and service providers,” Executive Director Michelle Curtis said. “We are empowering them to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to create a truly inclusive and supportive society.”
The 2025 scholarship recipients are:
¯ Maybree Rinard, a returning applicant who graduated from Williamstown High School in 2022. She is pursuing a degree in occupational therapy at Shawnee State University.
¯ Kali Wells, also a returning applicant, who graduated from Warren High School in 2023. She is pursuing a bachelor’s in special education at Ohio State University.
¯ Christopher Copen, a recent graduate of Belpre High School, who will attend West Virginia Wesleyan University to pursue a bachelor’s in exercise science and plans to incorporate his work to benefit those of all abilities.
¯ McKenna Greer, who graduated from Parkersburg High School in May, will attend West Virginia University at Morgantown in the didactic program in dietetics.
¯ Callie Powell, a May graduate of St. Mary’s High School, who will attend Marietta College to earn a bachelor’s in special education.
¯ Twins Christian Rutherford and Katherine Rutherford, both May graduates of Parkersburg High School. Christian will attend West Liberty State University to study occupational therapy and health sciences. Katherine will attend West Liberty focusing on speech therapy.
The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley scholarship program supports full-time students at accredited colleges or universities who are studying for a degree related to working with individuals with cognitive or intellectual disabilities.
Eligible applicants must have graduated from a high school in Wood, Wirt, Jackson, Pleasants or Ritchie counties in West Virginia or Washington County in Ohio.
