Flower and Seed Exchange set for Saturday
The Ohio State University Extension Service’s annual Bring One Take One Flower and Seed Exchange starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Upper Muskingum River Park in the 500 block of Front Street.
Participants can bring plants, seeds or bulbs to share as early as 9 a.m. Even house plants are welcome. It is asked that items be labeled so the new owner will know the name, planting instructions, color, bloom seasons and the like.
People can also bring extra shovels, gardening tools, aprons, ceramic pots, unopened soil and fertilizer and garden decorations, which must be in good condition, clean and usable. No recyclable containers are to be included.
The starting point is the sidewalk along Front Street. At the ringing of the bell, each person bringing an item will be asked to obtain one plant, bulb, pack of seeds or gardening item and take it back to his or her original starting spot.
If additional items remain, the bell will ring for a second time once participants are lined up and ready. Each person will be asked to obtain a second item and take it back to their original starting spot.
If additional items remain, the bell will ring for a third and final time once participants are lined up and ready. There is no limit on how many remaining items each person can grab.
