Homegrown fun: Second annual Sweetcorn Festival crops up in Beverly this weekend

BEVERLY — The second annual Sweetcorn Festival will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Dodge Park in Beverly.
The festival is hosted by the Beverly-Waterford Growth & Revitalization Organization.
Attendees can expect an evening of live music, games, and plenty of delicious food, organizers said. Grilled sweetcorn will be provided by Witten Farm Market along with hamburgers, hot dogs, and homemade apple dumplings. Kettlecorn was added to the menu for this year.
There will be bingo, old-fashioned sack races, a sweetcorn eating contest between Fort Frye and Waterford High School football teams, and a watermelon eating contest between Fort Frye and Waterford High School cheerleaders.
Kids can enjoy sweetcorn themed face paintings and photo-ops throughout the evening.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, one at 6 p.m. and one at 8 p.m., a local auction and tickets for the Beverly-Waterford Growth & Revitalization Organization 24-prize raffle. The raffle tickets will be drawn Aug. 30.

The live music line-up will take place at the gazebo and starts with Rick Tincher & Jessica Schoonover at 5 p.m., Sam & Benny at 6 p.m., and the Recycler: the Outlaw Country Review at 8 p.m.
The Sweetcorn Festival is sponsored by Witten Farm Market, Sponey’s IGA, Pearl Valley Cheese Inc., and the Muskingum Valley Beverly-Waterford Chamber of Commerce.
