PARKERSBURG — “Hee Haw,” a show featuring local entertainers and personalities, returns to the stage at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg for a three-day run on Oct. 3, 4 and 5.
The annual family variety show is a spinoff of “Hee Haw” that was on television in the 1970s and 1980s. As featured the previous two years, the program will showcase the instrumental and vocal talents of many local musicians along with the comedic antics of Guild members and special guests.
Show times are 7 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 4 and a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 5.
Local celebrities jumping into Korn Kounty are Pam Creel from Wine Down on Market, Lyndsay Dennis from Artsbridge and Rick Hastings from the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Belpre.
“I think we’ve figured out just the right amount of music, skits and jokes,” Sherry Wilson Braid, the Guild’s fundraising chairman, said.

Held the last two years, among the local entertainers is Roy Clark Jr., who will play guitar and mandolin with the band. Clark’s father, Roy Clark, starred in the original “Hee Haw” on TV.
“He’s such a great musician and has such a clever sense of humor that he’ll share in his father’s ‘Empty Arms Hotel’ skit,” Braid said.
Reinnie Leavitt will sing as Tanya Tucker.
“She’ll perform ‘San Antonio Stroll’ and the show closer, ‘Delta Dawn.’ Reinnie’s vocal ability is perfect to portray Tanya Tucker,” Braid said. “‘Delta Dawn’ was the first song she sang for her family as a small child, just realizing her vocal abilities. It’s a full circle moment for her.”
Other performers will include Braid as Patsy Cline, Greg Strauss as Buck Owens, Tim Wilson as Ronny Milsap and Dennis Craig as Vince Gill.

“Dennis will be closing Act 1 with Vince Gill’s ‘Go Rest High on That Mountain.’ He’s an awesome singer. It’s so moving; there won’t be a dry eye in the house,” Braid said.
Clark Jr.’s sons, Caleb and Josiah, will join him onstage for an instrumental version of “Big Rock Candy Mountain.”
Eliana and Mia Higgins, nationally competitive cloggers, will return to dance to “This Train.”
“They are incredibly talented, and we are so blessed to have them as volunteers at the Actors Guild,” Braid said.
The Hee Haw Band has been practicing for the past two months. Band members include Debbie DeWees and Marsha Parsons on piano, Rebecca Traugh on fiddle, Dan Murray on banjo, Mark Hartshorn on lead guitar, Chuck Lemasters on steel guitar, Rich Wilson on harmonica and Greg Strauss on bass. In addition, Ben Wilson and Jeff Flanagan will be featured trumpeters on three songs.
