Mobility Managers in Monroe, Noble, and Washington counties are helping individuals access mobility services according to their needs.
“Accessing the store, medical care, and social activities shouldn’t prevent anyone from fully participating in community life,” said Julia Hinzman, a Mobility Manager with Buckeye Hills Regional Council, who serves Washington and Noble counties.
Mobility Managers are involved in more than just transportation coordination. They also support active transportation through trail planning, sidewalk audits, safety education, and broader community engagement. Collaboration with local organizations has helped Mobility Management build a strong foundation for addressing each community’s specific needs.
“Every individual’s needs are unique, and our work as Mobility Managers is to ensure that no one feels alone,” said Mobility Manager Kelly Isaly, who serves Monroe County. “We provide one-on-one education and actively work to connect them to resources accessible throughout their communities.”
Buckeye Hills Regional Council’s Mobility Management staff recently assisted a man who could no longer drive due to health issues. They arranged transportation for his cancer treatments and, through connections built at community meetings, helped secure home health equipment and meal delivery.
Another example includes assisting an Amish family in need of transportation and additional support. The Mobility Managers not only helped coordinate transportation but also connected the family with Job and Family Services to address other needs.
“What I’ve witnessed is better service throughout the entire county since the inception of Mobility Management,” said Washington County Commissioner Charlie Schilling. “This is a good example of collaboration with multiple entities to provide better service for our community.”
Hinzman and Isaly say they love what they do and are happy to serve individuals in Washington, Noble, and Monroe counties who need their help. They encourage anyone who needs assistance or knows someone who does to call 1-800-331-2644 ext. 6 to learn more about how Mobility Management can provide support.
