Out with the old: Crews begin construction on McConnelsville Dam
Crews are using a pair of track hoes to breakup and remove the old McConnelsville Dam. A new dam slightly downstream from the old one was recently completed. The two-year Ohio Department of Natural Resources construction project on the Muskingum River cost $26 million. Once the old dam is completely removed the river banks will be restored with the final work to be completed in the spring. (Photo provided by Clinton Gessel)
