VIENNA — The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, in partnership with the Marietta Community Foundation, will host a continuing education event for professional advisers from 1-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna.

Sponsored by Peoples Bank, Hall Financial Advisors and WesBanco, this event is free to attend and open to attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, insurance professionals and trust officers who serve philanthropic clients in the Mid-Ohio Valley region.

The program will be led by Bryan Clontz, a nationally recognized expert in charitable gift planning. He will explore advanced charitable and estate planning strategies, with a focus on non-cash gifts such as real estate, business interests and other complex assets.

Attendees can earn up to 3.75 General Legal CLE credits in Ohio, and 4 Legal CLE credits in West Virginia.

This professional development opportunity features two main sessions. The first, “Advanced Charitable Brainteasers: A Case Study Approach,” begins at 1:15 p.m. and highlights seven brief case studies involving artwork, corporate real estate, closely held business interests and more.

After a short break, the second session, “Creative Charitable Planning with Non-Cash Assets,” will dive deeper into tax implications, asset types, legislative updates and the challenges charities face in accepting non-cash gifts.

Advisers are encouraged to stay for a post-event reception from 5:30-6 p.m. This informal gathering offers an opportunity to network with PACF staff and fellow area advisers. Refreshments will be provided.

“We’re excited to bring this kind of high-level training to our region’s advisers,” said Fred Rader, executive director of the PACF. “Front-line professional advisers have a unique opportunity to inspire actionable change in the communities we serve. By working closely with the community foundation and their philanthropic clients, advisers can help fuel stronger futures for our neighbors — building a more resilient, generous and vibrant Mid-Ohio Valley for generations to come.”

Registration is required as spots are limited. To register or request more information, contact Julie Posey at julie.posey@pacfwv.com or 304-428-4438.
